I know, as teachers, this year we have been overwhelmed with implementing the common core and working on our SLOs. I have used the site Only2Clicks.com to curate some useful articles, videos, and websites for you to use in the classroom or for students to look at on their own time. NoodleTools
One of our new databases is called NoodleTools. I introduced this at building team meeting, but wanted to let you know they have
online tutorials for you to learn more about how you can use this software with your classes. I love it for the simple fact that students often misplace their note cards or forget which website they used. NoodleTools helps organize note cards into the students' outline as well as create a citation and then make them paraphrase. You, as the teacher, can leave comments on what the student has accomplished and check whether or not he or she made any changes. If you would like to set up your account and class, come see me! Health Class
Recently, Mrs. Zech's health classes came into the library to learn about copyright, public domain and a great site called Creative Commons. Students got into groups and pretended to work for a marketing firm. There were 4 stations with a picture and an explanation of who owned the image. Each group had to decide if the picture was right for the marketing campaign and if the creator allowed others to use the image. This then spring boarded the students to go onto creativecommons.org and find licensed media to use in their mental illness PSA. Lastly, students were given exit cards. There were so many amazing questions that I had to post the answers online. Check it out
HERE on my wiki page under Copyright Questions. I also created a Google custom search so that the students wouldn't have to spend time searching and evaluating every website they came across. Many appreciated that they could jump right in to finding the information on credible websites. I can't wait to see what the students create on Animoto!
